The international team of researchers concludes, within the abstract to their paper, the following: 'While the evidence is strong for some contributors such as pharmaceutical-induced weight gain, it is still emerging for other reviewed factors.'

'Considering the role of such putative etiological factors of obesity may lead to comprehensive, cause specific, and effective strategies for prevention and treatment of this global epidemic.'

Thus, the obesity epidemic, in the opinion of these authors, is more complex than just eating too much and not exercising enough.

Because of these extra complexities, better plans (countermeasures), which take into account such problems, are needed to combat the global epidemic of obesity.
