The NATSEM report studied five key way to reverse the trend of increasing rates of type 2 diabetes: improving use of medicines, improving exercise, enhancing primary care, introducing new drugs, and effectively counseling patients.
NATSEM research director of health
Laurie Brown says that these five critical components can help to control type 2 diabetes.
Brown states,
“All five interventions showed benefits over the long-term, improving levels of diabetes control, reducing the number of complications and therefore the health burden.” [Sydney Morning Herald]
She also made the comment that
“lifestyle” is the most important factor for reducing one’s risk of type 2 diabetes.
Brown states that a good lifestyle includes a
"… combination of eating healthily and exercising regularly.” [Sydney Morning Herald]
