The organization also states,
“Some products even bore misleading claims (like "hypoallergenic" and “FDA compliant”), making it tough for parents to find safe face paints.”
For instance,
•
Snazaroo Face Paint, labeled as “non-toxic” and “hypoallergenic,” contained some of the highest levels of lead, nickel and cobalt found in the study.
Some products tested by the organization did list ingredients on their labels.
For instance, the organization states that ingredients listed on such products include
“… butane (persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic), thiram (neurotoxic, possibly carcinogenic, used as a pesticide), alumina (neurotoxic), propylene glycol (possibly carcinogenic) and pigment green 7 and pigment blue 15, which are not approved by FDA for use in cosmetics.”

All of the face paints tested by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics contained lead and all of the tested products did not list lead in its ingredient labels, the organization is recommending that
“parents avoid using face paints on children until safety standards are put in place.”
Page three contains other options than face paints.
