Sleepy teens awake still hooked up to tech toys

Science - Health

Yes, this study is obvious, but it is also important because it does scientifically prove that many teenagers in Australia, and elsewhere around the world, are not getting their much needed sleep.

Many times they are sleepy in the morning and throughout the day because they are wired into the Internet or other tech toys rather than sleeping.

Based on such research, maybe it is time for parents to take away such tech toys at bed-time so that better sleep habits can be learned early in life and extended into their adult years.

Other scientific studies, also, find that adults do not get enough sleep, many times for these same reasons and probably for even more reasons.

Such studies time-and-time again state that sleep is essential for health throughout one’s lifetime, and in order to perform well throughout the day.

So, in my opinion, this is an important study that does state the obvious, but one that is still not being heard throughout the world.

Possibly, scientists will one day conclude that teenagers are getting sufficient sleep and they can conclude that tech toys are being put away in favor of sleep. But, then again, that’s probably not likely ....

The mission of the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA) states just how important sleep is—it is their primary goal for its existence.

Its mission statement is (underlined to show its importance): "… is to lead, coordinate and enable the educational, research, and social activities of healthcare professionals in the sleep medicine field across Australia and New Zealand, with the purpose of promoting our vision of a society that recognises the importance of good sleep to health, public safety and quality of life."
