EFluxMedia.com, along with The Washington Post article “
Kids' Cereal Rated,” states some of the breakfast cereals that are high in sugar and low in fiber. Please remember that not every breakfast cereal was rated by the Consumer Reports.
These poor or fair rated cereals include:
• Kellogg’s Honey Smacks
• Kraft’s Post Golden Crisp
• Kellogg’s Froot Loops
• Kellogg’s Corn Pops
• Kellogg’s Rice Krispies
• Kellogg’s Cocoa Krispies
• Kellog’s Apple Jacks
• Post’s Golden Crisp
• Quaker Oaks’ Cap'n Crunch
• Quaker Oaks’ Cap'n Crunch's Peanut Butter Crunch.
These companies include
Quaker Oats,
Kraft Foods (Post Cereals), and
Kellogg's.
These ratings included the amount of sugar and fiber in each cereal.
For instance, Kellogg’s Rice Krispies had low sugar per serving, at four grams, but it is high in sodium and has no dietary fiber. It was rated by Consumer Reports as “Fair.”
On the other hand, Kellogg's Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size is rated better (as “Good”) because it has 12 grams of sugar, much higher than Rice Krispies, but is very low in sodium and has six grams of fiber.
The best cereals, according to the Consumer Reports are found on page three.
