Scientists estimate that about 2.8 million cases of the infection Chlamydia occur in the United States each year.

The infection is transmitted by oral, anal, and vaginal sex. It can be passed from mother to baby during vaginal childbirth because the baby comes into contact with the mother’s infected genital area.

The majority of women infected with Chlamydia do not have any outwardly physical signs or symptoms. Left untreated Chlamydia can cause reproductive problems, along with other minor and major health problems, in women.

It is easy to rid the body of Chlamydia. See your doctor or any medical professional. The Chlamydia infection is easily treated with antibiotics.

Health professionals urge everyone in the United States to make more efforts to screen, vaccinate, and become more active in preventive measures to curb sexually transmitted diseases and infections in sexually active girls and women.

In the United States, it is one of our worst health problems.

The CDC study was announced to the public on Tuesday, March 12, 2008. The study was presented at the National STD Prevention Conference in Chicago, Illinois, United States.
