The new FDA one-stop consumer health help Webpage, called “Consumer Health Information: For You and Your Family”, is located at: http://www.fda.gov/consumer.
Some of the more popular links include medicines; medical devices and procedures; vaccines, blood, other biologics; cosmetics; protect yourself; food and nutrition; animal health; and radiation-emitting products.
Also on the webpage is a section for updates. Currently, one of the topics is the public controversy over the toothpaste made from China (“Warning: Toothpaste from China”).
The FDA also provides contact information to local FDA offices. In addition, by selecting a specific topic, the FDA website will take you to the appropriate FDA organization to contact for more information.
The federal government organization also provides search capabilities by word/phrase, in an alphabetic listing, and by group (such as senior, woman, and teenager).
The FDA hopes that its new website will better help consumers find information easier and faster. Again, you can access the new FDA consumer health webpage at: http://www.fda.gov/consumer.
The Food and Drug Administration is part of the U.S. federal government’s Department of Health and Human Services. The home webpage of the FDA is: http://www.fda.gov/default.htm.
