Construction needs cloud flexibility

Australia’s embattled construction sector could benefit from cloud based information systems that can be switched on and off in lockstep with individual projects – with the exception of those organisations based in remote areas like the Kimberleys.

New Zealander and Englishman create unique vehicles

Science - Energy

Two individuals, one from New Zealand and one from England, have built two very different types of boats. One has made a ship from two-liter plastic bottles that he entails to sail across the Pacific Ocean, and the other has built a hovercraft that also flies.

New Zealander Rudy Heeman has built a hover- and air-craft, which has taken him ten years to build.

Heeman is a mechanic who has built a hovercraft that runs along the water at speeds under 70 kilometers per hour. However, once it reaches the cruising speed of 70 kilometers per hour, it becomes airborne.

According to the March 1, 2010 Sky News Online article ''Fast And Furious' Flying Hovercraft For Sale,' the hover- and air-craft is called a wing in ground effective vehicle, or WIG for short.

Heeman describes his vehicle 'This machine is fast and furious. It roars like a lion and is not for the faint-hearted. It is adrenalin-pumping and exciting.' [Sky News Online]

And, after ten years of designing and building his WIG, Heeman has it up for sale.

Check out the Sky News Online article for additional information on the craft and how you can bid on it on the website http://www.trademe.co.nz/.
