Prius Solar: Toyota sees sunny skies in its future

The company followed the Prius into other national markets in 2000/2001. Its second-generation Prius was introduced in 2003.

Currently, Toyota sells more than one million of its Prius worldwide each year. It is sold in over forty countries, however, it is sold most often in Japan and North America.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the 2008 Toyota Prius is the most fuel efficient car sold in the United States with a rating of 45 miles per gallon in the city and 48 miles per gallon on the highway.

The Toyota Prius 2008 has a permanent magnet AC synchronous electric motor. Its power output is 67 horsepower at 1200 to 1540 revolutions per minute (RPM).
