U.S., Australia has giant carbon footprints

According to research performed by Australian and Singapore researchers, the countries of Australia and the United States are among the top ten worst countries in the world with respect to their global environmental impact. Big shoes leave large areas environmentally vulnerable.

Dr. Corey J.A. Bradshaw, who is associated with the Environment Institute at the University of Adelaide's environment institute, and Dr. Xingli Giam and Dr. Navjot S. Sodhi, both who are with the Department of Biological Sciences at National University of Singapore, analyzed countries of the world with respect to their carbon emissions, rate of species threat, and natural forest loss.

They also looked at habitat conversion, marine captures, fertilizer use, and water pollution.

Dr. Bradshaw, Giam, and Sodhi found that Australia was the ninth worst countries in the world with respect to its environmental impact on the world.

The United States was even worst, according to the research team.

It is the second worst country in the world with respect to its negative impact on the global environment.
