Tired of all these nasty insects? Get the scoop on the 12 worst!

The '12 Worst Insects' are described by Popular Mechanics magazine, and the author calls them the 'most vile insect invaders around.'

If your life is spent outdoors primarily swatting annoying flies and treacherous mosquitoes, then maybe you need to read the article in the magazine Popular Mechanics about the worst of these insects.

Author Mary Beth Griggs describes 'The 12 Worst Insects' - calling such bugs as stink bugs, bedbugs, and emerald ash borers ''¦ some of the most vile insect invaders around, killing trees and gardens and generally making our lives miserable.'

And, at the top of her list is locust, and it pretty much goes down hill from there.

People in Australia know exactly what the problem is when it comes to locust. They were bombarded with gigantic swarms of Australian plague locust (Chortoicetes terminifera) in 2010.

So, bring your fly swatter and insect repellant and read the article 'The 12 Worst Insect Invaders' at the Popular Mechanics website.

You'll read about locust and 11 other nasty insects (like termites and cockroaches and -- oh no -- bedbugs, too) in the Popular Mechanics article.
