The "Inspiring Australia" report was released by the Australian government for the purpose of bringing science to the national forefront. Many projects are planned, such as National Science Week, to inspire Australians about the importance of science.
Senator
Kim Carr, the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, released the new science report in parliament.
The Report is called:
Inspiring Australia: A National Strategy for Engagement with the Sciences.
According to the February 8, 2010 News.com.au article “
Grand plans for a scientific Australia,” the national project for science is targeted at
"catapulting science into classrooms, boardrooms and lounge rooms".
The report, states various initiatives that are directed toward universities and schools, along with non-profit and research organizations.
Senator Carr talked about the importance that science should bring to Australia and the important role that scientists should play for the country.
Carr stated,
“Inspiration is too important to leave to chance.” Consequently, the Australian government will spend approximately A$8.6 billion on science for this fiscal year.
