If you don’t believe in religion, or only believe it half-heartedly, it could help you understand better your views if you read about religion.
Religion is defined in
Wikipedia.com as:
“A religion is a set of stories, symbols, beliefs and practices, often with a supernatural quality, that give meaning to the practitioner's experiences of life through reference to an ultimate power or reality.”
It is defined in the
Merriam-Webster online dictionary, according to the subject of this article, as:
“1 a: the state of a religious <a nun in her 20th year of religion> b (1): the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2): commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance.”
2: a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
4: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith”
We all can become better educated, and possibly even more tolerant of different groups of people, by learning the views of others, whether we believe them or not.
Darwin concluded in his book "Origin of Species":
"There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been
originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet
has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a
beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are
being, evolved."
Whether by God or by Nature, we are here.
We all should be here to support each other, and not to enslave one another.
