Thus, there is more committed marriage, and less divorce after marriage.
However, if there are more women than men, then it is more difficult for men to go from one women to another, for the mere fact that there are less women to choose.
In addition, Schmitt reports that when women are at the peak of their fertility, they are more apt to engage in casual sex.
Specifically, Schmitt found that men are more likely to seek out one-night stands in the twenties.
However, women, overall, had more one-night stands in their thirties.
Schmitt stated,
“Historically we have repressed women's short-term mating and there are all sorts of double standards out there where men's short-term mating was sort of acceptable but women's was not.” [Howrah News Service]
