Home Reviews Peripherals Samsung’s serious smaller snapper

Samsung has compressed its NX interchangeable lens system into a 196g, 22.5mm thin, 20.5MP, NX mini digital camera.

No, it is not for professionals – it is for the point and shoot, happy snaps brigade that wants a choice of different lenses to capture different moments – a major drawback with small digital cameras.

Craig Gillespie, Head of Digital Imaging, Samsung Electronics Australia said, “The NX mini’s 3-inch Flip up Display and interchangeable wide angle lens allow for easy framing. It is an ideal size to fit in a pocket or handbag. It is perfect for active Australians.”

The mini is social media aware and Wi-Fi/NFC to upload pictures direct to your Dropbox and Flickr accounts and is fully Android compatible for remote control and sharing.

NX Lenses

Samsung has introduced three NX-M lenses optimised for use with the NX mini:

  • NX-M 9mm, F3.5 ED lens is an ultra-slim wide angle lens and is the best choice for capturing landscapes and flattering individual or group shots
  • NX-M 9-27mm, F3.5-5.6 ED Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) lens is a micro-compact zoom that fits well in a pocket or handbag.
  • NX-M 17mm, F1.8 OIS lens provides photographers with a large aperture to produce smooth bokeh effects which helps make the subject stand out from the background

An NX-M Mount Adapter allows the mini to use a further 15 Samsung NX lenses.
