Another feature nicked from other games of this ilk is the use of cover. From
our early code preview I commented that “The cover system is a little flaky at the moment, ducking behind a wall works, but you are not locked in as in other games, and it takes a bit of practice to blind fire, or even realise you are in cover. “
This hasn't changed in the final build, and is something that takes a bit of getting used to.
Haven't had much of a go with the multiplayer aspect of Killzone 2, so it is a little hard to judge how it will fair over the free PlayStation Network. The inclusion of an offline mode against bots is a great way to hone your skills for the online big time though.
Yep! It's Space Marines, but at least they are not shooting aliens this time. So long as a deep story line is not high on your list of requirements, and you don't mind the odd 'F' bomb dropped during cuts-scenes, then Killzone 2 ticks all the boxes.
In the long run Killzone 2 is a satisfying chase through a hostile environment, pursuing a ruthless and tough opponent. Killzone 2 takes much of the good bits from other games and brings them to a single title. As such the game comes across quite polished and competent.
Though there are a couple of times that script trigger points are missed, causing a little frustrations, and the difficulty level (even before unlocking the top setting) is challenging, the experience is a solid one. For PS3 shooter fans that have completed
Resistance 2 , this one is the next clip to slam into the breach.
