Riverbed to showcase WAN Optimisation Solutions at Gartner ITXpo 2009

Riverbed Executive to Lead Discussion on the Benefits of RiOS 6.0, Steelhead Mobile 3.0 and Cascade Appliances

Riverbed Technology, the IT infrastructure performance company for networks, applications and storage, will showcase its new WAN optimisation and application management solutions at the upcoming Gartner Symposium ITXpo taking place November 17-19, 2009 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, Sydney.

Attendees can visit Riverbed® at booth #15 to see live demonstrations of the recently announced Riverbed Optimization System (RiOS®) version 6.0, featuring the innovative optimisation for Citrix XenApp and Xen Desktop environments while also supporting legacy Citrix Presentation Server farms. Attendees can also learn about the new features that will be available in RiOS 6.0, including support for Mac clients, Oracle E-Business Suite 12 and many web applications, such as Microsoft SharePoint and SAP. For mobile and remote workers, Riverbed will provide information on Steelhead® Mobile 3.0, the recently announced version of its mobile WAN acceleration solution, with support for Windows 7 and 64-bit systems. Both RiOS 6.0 and Steelhead Mobile 3.0 are expected to be generally available in Q4 2009.

Within its booth, Riverbed will also showcase its advanced network and application performance management and reporting solution, Riverbed Cascadeâ„¢, which provides enterprise-wide application performance analysis, data on server and application dependencies, and the tools for IT managers to immediately determine their bottlenecks for the delivery of applications across their infrastructure.

According to Steve Dixon, managing director, Australia and New Zealand at Riverbed, 'With multiple IT initiatives - cloud computing, virtualisation, server consolidation - vying for more investment, and Australian organisations still feeling the aftershocks of the global financial crisis, enterprises are determining which initiatives can provide the most ROI, and show the productivity and cost reduction benefits across a large, dispersed network, to justify that investment.'

'Riverbed's WAN optimisation technology has a good track record, delivering cost savings and productivity enhancements by accelerating data transfers, reducing latency and freeing bandwidth,' says Dixon. 'While RiOS 6.0 and Steelhead Mobile 3.0 introduce even more enhancements across a broader range of operating systems and platforms, solutions like Cascade help these enhancements deliver on their promise by giving organisations visibility into how the results are achieved, which parts of the network have the most to gain, and which parts can be further improved. This enhanced visibility is the next logical step in the evolution of WAN optimisation technology and comes at a critical time when organisations are set to impose increasingly heavy demands on their networks in light of the expected rapid adoption of centralised technologies like cloud computing.'

As a Platinum sponsor of the event, Riverbed will present a talk by Steve Dixon titled 'Proving the Effectiveness of Your IT Strategies as You Optimise for the Modern World' at 11.15 am on Wednesday, November 18, in Session Room B.
