Axway, the business interaction networks company, today introduced Axway Archiving, a cloud-based email archiving solution. Axway Archiving leverages cloud computing to eliminate the need for on-premise hardware, software and storage infrastructure. This approach enables Axway to offer unlimited email archiving storage at a low, fixed price for any messaging platform, regardless of size.

Archiving is necessary to comply with e-discovery requests, to better manage mail servers and to meet corporate and industry mandates the world over. Regulations ranging from Canada’s Universal Market Integrity Rules to France’s Conseil des Marches Financiers’ Decision 99-05 to the United States’ Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) 17A-4 and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) mandates, all force corporations to retain emails, regardless of country or location. Archiving solutions to date have imposed hard-to-predict storage costs that increase as email stores expand, requiring significant on-premise technology management ─ even in software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings and labour-intensive message migration.
For these reasons, Axway has embraced a secure cloud model that archives, stores and retrieves email communications without needing to purchase or manage additional archiving hardware or software. This hybrid model, complementing email servers already on-premise, frees up IT resources previously committed to managing appliances. Moreover, Axway Archiving automates maintenance, liberating IT from testing, managing and rolling out upgrades. Axway’s approach, including a 99.99 percent uptime service level agreement (SLA), results in improved server performance, faster delivery times, faster back-up recovery and reductions in time spent managing mailbox quota limits.
“Growth in email storage is the leading problem in managing messaging systems. Organisations of every size and in every industry should develop detailed records retention policies, develop enforcement mechanisms for those policies, and deploy systems that will enable just that,” said Michael Osterman, principal of Osterman Research. “Further, implementing an archiving solution is not a low priority that can be deployed when budget is available – it is a necessary function of businesses today.”
Axway Archiving provides the following benefits:
· Unlimited email storage to scale with growth at no additional charge
· 99.99 percent uptime service level agreement (SLA) guaranteed
· Advanced search and e-discovery features, including full text indexing of header, body and attachments, legal hold, add comments function, mark-up ability and message tagging
· No product training necessary
· Ultra-reliable grid utility storage using elastic virtual computing
· Redundant communication links: Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to encrypt data in motion and Transport Layer Security (TLS) to ensure data is not seen
· Use of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithms in cipher feedback (CFB) 128 mode with 256 bit keys for stored data encryption
· Multiple access points to customer data using two-factor authentication
“Flexible, cloud-based email archiving is essential to effective information management due to unavoidable compliance with legal requests and industry regulations,” said Christophe Fabre, CEO of Axway. “Axway Archiving represents the next step in Axway’s cloud strategy, and furthers the effectiveness of Business Interaction Networks in accelerating business and eliminating multi-enterprise barriers.”
