(Surf 2 Conference Room)
Mandalay Bay Convention Center Las Vegas, NV
Members of the media are invited to attend the Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2009 breakout session titled, “Records and Storage Management with SharePoint 2010” to learn about the differences between a records archive and SharePoint 2010 in-place records and the benefits of archiving and eDiscovery leveraging unified data capture.
“Prior to Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, records were managed by creating a Records Center site to serve as an archive, then copying documents to the archive when they became records,” said Tuip. “Whether a document was a record or not was determined by whether it lived in the records archive or elsewhere. With SharePoint Server 2010, you will now be able to manage records in an archive, or you can manage records in the same document repository as active documents.”
During the session, Tuip will discuss the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 in-place approach. With this approach when a document has been declared as a record, the record remains in place, but Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 now manages it as a record. This process will be compared with a SharePoint records archive and its ability to support eDiscovery processes through unified data capture.
Martin Tuip has more than a decade of IT experience. He started out his IT career in system administration, but has focused mostly on archiving and compliance products. He is the webmaster of a few resource sites for Exchange and SharePoint and as well is the owner of some of the world's largest user communities for these products and writes on one of the few archiving software dedicated blogs at www.archiving101.com. Martin is a published author, a nine-time Microsoft MVP for Exchange Server. He currently works as the Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager for Mimosa Systems.
