Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
TANDBERG® (OSLO: TAA. OL), a leading global provider of telepresence, high-definition videoconferencing and mobile video solutions, today announced the opening of a new office in Canberra. Focusing on the public sector, the office completes TANDBERG’s coverage of the eastern sea board, with offices also in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
The aim of the office will be to support TANDBERG’s Canberra-based partners to service the growing videoconferencing needs of Federal and ACT state government departments. The company’s partners include, Dimension Data, ServicePoint and Canberra Professional Equipment (CPE).
Public sector veteran Phill Small has been appointed to manage the new office. Phill has eight years experience in Canberra in the public sector, specialising in defence, security and federal government. Previously he was Business Development Manager (BDM) with communication and collaboration specialist, ServicePoint, and also spent more than six years with Fuji Xerox, where he was BDM for the National Defence sector.
“TANDBERG has a long history in the public sector,” commented Australia and New Zealand Country Manager, Phil Siefert. “Our new Canberra office will enable us to focus more on efforts at a federal level,” he added.
“Awareness and interest in videoconferencing has grown significantly in both the public and private sectors in the last twelve months, particularly now that organisations are starting to see real gains in productivity as a result of its use. Many companies are also championing its positive impact on their green credentials too, due to the reduced need for travel.”
Market Surpasses US$1 billon
According to research company Wainhouse, the global market for videoconferencing units (‘endpoints’) grew by 24 per cent -to US$308.6 million- in Q1 2008 compared to Q1 2007. For the sixth consecutive quarter, TANDBERG maintained its market leader position with 40 per cent share.
“It’s often difficult to maintain a market leading position in a fast-growing market, but we’ve managed to do that now for 18 months in both endpoint and infrastructure markets,” added Siefert. “This financial year will be the first year that the global videoconferencing endpoint market will surpass the US$1 billion mark.”
