TechnologyOne to assist Microsoft with new version of Visual Studio Team System software

Technology One Limited (ASX:TNE), a leading Australian provider of enterprise business software solutions, has been selected to participate in a worldwide program to help Microsoft refine and enhance its Visual Studio® Team System software release. 

 

The company was chosen from a long list of nominations, on the basis of the advanced customisation and extension work it has done since it commenced working with Team System 18 months ago.

 

Microsoft Visual Studio Team System is a tightly integrated Application Lifecycle Management suite designed to enhance the way software development teams work together. It facilitates collaboration, accelerates development time, and improves predictability and reliability of the development process.

 

Developers from TechnologyOne have been invited to travel to Redmond in Washington to participate in the Technology Adoption Program (TAP) for Visual Studio Team System code-named “Rosario”.  TechnologyOne will assist Microsoft to test its new technologies and products against 'real-life' industry leading software to ensure that Team System meets customer requirements.

 

TechnologyOne has been using Microsoft Team System across its Application Development Framework and its Core Enterprise Suite of business software solutions.  Currently about 90 staff at TechnologyOne are working with the system and this is expected to grow to around 160 staff when the technology is deployed across the company’s other software divisions including Student Management and Property & Rating.

 

Peter Beahan, System Architect – ADF at TechnologyOne said Team System had delivered a range of benefits to the company including the ability to streamline the development process through functions like automated testing, reporting on real time information and instant reporting of build status.

 

“It’s improved the visibility of the process, the productivity of developers, our management systems, and it has enabled us to automate many things which previously we had to do manually.”

                                                 

“Now our management can access information about development activity in real time and our developers can simultaneously review test results while they are working on the software which saves time and improves the quality of the development work.”

 

Peter said that as part of the program, TechnologyOne will review the software, evaluate the specifications and give feedback on the functionality of various features of the system.
