Editure liberates Governments’ Le@rning Federation content

Accessing The Le@rning Federation’s learning objects has just become straight forward for teachers.  Following an upgrade of Editure’s mysuite software, teachers in over a thousand schools in Australia can now do detailed searches for The Le@rning Federation learning objects within the mysuite software.

The Le@rning Federation (TLF) is a collaborative initiative of the education Ministers in Australia and New Zealand for developing online curriculum content for all Australian and New Zealand schools and deliver it electronically to schools.  TLF has already developed thousands of high-quality online curriculum content items for years P-10 and is regularly updating material.

“The Le@rning Federation is undoubtedly a wonderful teaching resource, with a potential that is only beginning to be realised” said Joe Ewart, CEO of Editure. “As with many large catalogues, the challenge for teachers is finding what they want.  Our upgrade now makes this simple.”

Access to TLF content is provided through online systems such as mysuite or through education departments portals. The content been been developed or licenced to meet the needs of Australian and New Zealand schools. Where schools do not have access to the content through online systems then they can receive a DVD with limited functionality.

Now, teachers need only access a search facility within mysuite to find material on TLF and incorporate into mysuite lesson planning.  Each learning object is ‘tagged’ with key word descriptors making it straight-forward to search and find the relevant content.  And because mysuite is a web-based platform, teachers can use it wherever they have internet access – a real convenience for the many teachers who prepare lesson plans at home.

Bruce Chynoweth, Editure’s Manager of Curriculum and Professional Learning, believes Editure’s search facility is a significant development for TLF. “TLF content is just superb. Children love it and really engage through it.  We receive excellent feedback from teachers who find the content relevant, intuitive to use, and not requiring technical skills.  The stumbling block to date has been to get it into the hands of teachers who were previously overwhelmed by the wealth of material.  I’m confident that our search facility has removed this block.”
