SNIA A/NZ Appoints NetApp Director to Board

Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), a leading provider of storage and data management solutions, today announced that Scott Morris, Director of Partner and Public Sector Sales for NetApp A/NZ has been appointed to the SNIA A/NZ Board of Directors.

This appointment adds to the extensive involvement NetApp has with SNIA around the world, including positions on the US and European SNIA boards and involvement in several other initiatives such as the SNIA Technical council, SNIA IP Storage Forum, SNIA Storage Management Initiative and SNIA Data Management Forum.

Peter O’Connor, Managing Director of NetApp A/NZ, said, "Our partnerships with SNIA globally are very important to NetApp because we have the common goal of making storage networking and data management technologies simpler to understand, implement and manage. As such, we have been a regular participant in local SNIA activities since NetApp began in the A/NZ market and will continue to do so, to ensure we are simplifying storage for our customers.

"Scott is an excellent candidate for the SNIA board, due to his extensive experience and outstanding results working with the IT channel – a key area on which SNIA is focused for growth. With an immediate focus on improving SNIA’s membership proposition, Scott’s exemplary performance in the last three years with NetApp will be a strong foundation from which to begin this board position. I have high confidence that Scott will rise to this challenge and add significant value to SNIA going forward," O’Connor said.

Morris’s experience includes driving channel business in traditional vertical markets such as banking and finance, healthcare and education, as well as solving the issues the channel faces in delivering complex technologies and business solutions.

Prior to joining NetApp, Morris headed up Dell's large corporate sales. He has also had extensive channel sales experience through roles at Compaq and Silicon Graphics, and has worked with several distributors.

Chairman of SNIA ANZ, Jacob Van der Eyk stated, "The appointment of Scott Morris strengthens our Board and reinforces our commitment to the broadest possible representation of the storage community. In Scott we have someone who will influence our thinking to reflect the needs of the channel community, who in most cases are the direct interface to the end user."
