Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Exinda Networks, the leading provider of Unified Performance Management (UPM) solutions, today announced its new Service Delivery Point (SDP), an invaluable tool for centralised management of Exinda’s wide area networks (WAN) optimisation solutions. SDP simplifies the task of installing, configuring, monitoring, and reporting of WAN optimisation appliances distributed throughout corporate networks. SDP puts network managers in control of their network, regardless of the number of networked sites, via a simple login and password on a Web browser. Exinda’s SDP provides full visibility into how applications are performing over the WAN in an easy to use format. Customized reports on network utilisation, top applications and top URLS can be used to fully optimise WAN performance.
Hosted Service and On-site SDP Appliance Available for Enterprises’ Varied Needs
SDP is available on demand as a hosted “Software as a Service” and licensed by the number of appliances to be managed or as an appliance hosted either at a company’s site or a managed service provider’s (MSP) site. Exinda’s hosted service further simplifies the WAN optimisation process by eliminating the need to buy, install, maintain and upgrade management hardware and software. Since there is no capital investment, SDP offers a 70 - 90 percent savings compared to similar client/server solutions.
Exinda’s SDP outshines traditional centralised management systems (CMS) by eliminating the cost, risk and complexity of such implementations. SDP provides a quicker return on investment as it can be deployed quickly, typically in one week versus three months or more for a traditional CMS. SDP provides full visibility into network usage at application layer 7 while most CMS only focus on network layer 3.
Exinda also offers an alternative SDP appliance to be hosted at a company’s site or MSP’s site. This option is ideal for companies with a large number of networked sites and for companies with security policy that does not allow for data to be hosted externally. It is also well suited for an MSP to manage multiple customers and their various installations.
SDP - A Critical Component of Exinda’s Unified Performance Management
SDP is one of the key components that differentiate Exinda’s UPM from competitive products. Exinda’s UPM combines WAN optimisation, application acceleration, application visibility and application response time measurements onto a single appliance and works with SDP to deliver industry’s best WAN optimisation solution. SDP capitalizes on one of Exinda’s core strengths of monitoring and reporting on network performance.
“Software as a service is a low risk, high reward model for many organisations,” said Chris Siakos, chief technology officer for Exinda Networks. “Exinda is the first to implement this model for WAN optimisation. As we add customers to our hosted service, SDP will be refined based on customers’ application and network environments. Eventually SDP will migrate to an adaptive response environment making SDP even more powerful. It will provide real-time notifications on application performance and recommendations for setting optimal network policies.”
Pricing and Availability
Pricing for SDP is dependent upon the type of service selected. The Exinda Web-hosted solution has no set up fee and is AUD$38 per appliance per month for up to 10 appliances and is reduced to AUD$12 per appliance per month for 500 or more appliances. Exinda’s SDP appliance to be hosted at a company’s site starts at AUD$6,250 for a 10 appliance license. All prices exclude GST. Both versions of SDP will be available on June 30, 2007.
