OzHub, the Macquarie Telecom-led cloud computing alliance, has come down firmly on the side of Optus over the copyright controversy surrounding Optus TV Now, warning that any moves to change the law "risk branding Australia a global luddite state."
Altis Consulting, an Australian-owned consultancy offering specialist expertise for information management including data warehousing, business intelligence and data integration, has announced an exclusive partnership with the Kimball Group, the US-headquartered data warehousing consulting and education organisation.
As part of the partnership agreement, Altis Consulting will stage Kimball University education courses in Australia and New Zealand. The series of forums will provide executives working in business intelligence, data warehousing and information management with access to Kimball University courses delivered by Kimball Group teachers, including Ralph Kimball, known worldwide as an innovator, writer, educator, speaker and consultant in the field of data warehousing.
For more than two decades, Kimball Group has focused on developing, teaching and applying dimensional data warehouse design techniques for IT business intelligence professionals through consulting, writing and education. Its courses are designed to provide attendees with the highest quality, most practical data warehousing education. Kimball University, operated by the Kimball Group, offers public and on-site data warehouse classes based on its best-selling books and extensive hands-on consulting experience.
“Earlier this year, we worked with Kimball University to deliver courses in Australia on the data warehouse lifecycle. The over-subscribed attendance at these events combined with the positive feedback we received from those who attended encouraged us to extend the relationship with Kimball Group. As a result, we’ll be able to close the gap in local knowledge for practical data warehousing solutions and provide Australian-based organisations with access to international best practice data warehousing course structure,” said John Hoffman, General Manager, Altis Consulting.
Altis was established in 1998 in response to a gap in the market. Altis Consulting combines technical expertise with business acumen to deliver competitive advantage to customers by bridging the divide between IT capability and business needs.
Gavin Cooke, Director, Altis Consulting, said, “Our relationship with Kimball University goes hand-in-hand with our approach to training and retaining staff. As an Australian-owned IT consultancy that has grown by sheer hard work and with no government assistance, we are totally committed to training and education as the only way to move the IT industry forward. With a greater focus on education, the IT industry could finally become both an attractive employer for future graduates and a destination for those already working within the sector.”
Altis Consulting will host the Kimball University Dimensional Modeling in Depth course in Auckland, 11-14 March 2008, and Sydney, 17-20 March 2008. Registration for these courses is via the Altis web site (www.altis.com.au) and will open on 1 October 2007.
