Opinion and Analysis
After the tweeting underpants incident, Congressman Anthony Weiner has finally decided to resign. And guess who has offered him a job!
I wrote
recently about Weiner and tweeting and underpants and offered a few home truths about how best to keep 'interesting' pictures of oneself private on the Internet.
Well, finally after many days of pressure, our sausage-friend has pulled the pin and his grenade is about to go off.
He has announced his resignation from Congress.
According to
reports of the announcement, he said that he would be "looking for other ways to contribute my talents."
'¦and stepping into this breech (as it were) we have none other than Larry Flynt, founder of Hustler Magazine offering a new way to use those talents.
According to a copy of Flynt's letter
posted on the TMZ gossip site, Flynt says, "After having learned of your sudden and compelled resignation from your congressional post, I would like to make you an offer of employment at Flynt Management Group, LLC in our internet group."
"This offer is not made in jest. To show our sincerity, Flynt Management Group, LLC is willing to pay 20 per cent more than your former congressional salary."
The letter continued: "I feel that your unfortunate resignation is a prime example of unfounded political pressure and the hypocrisy that has invaded democracy in Washington DC."
So, Weiner has a decision to make. Does he leave the hustlers on capitol hill to join the hustler in California; or does he stay put, and just sit on his thumb for a while?
I'm sure there's more to this (un)savory saga to come; stay tuned!
