I think it is also the responsibility of the parents of these students to re-evaluate whether these schools are appropriate for their children to attend. Most college students are still being supported by their parents, so they are not totally on their own and, thus, are still the responsibility of their parents.
Parents: Rather than to visit your college kid on Saturday afternoon to attend a football game, sneak around campus on Friday night and see what’s going on.
Yes, not all students are partying, but when such an environment is pervasive on a college campus it does make it difficult for a serious student to study especially in a dormitory situation.
I make these comments because there is great concern about the declining educational system in the United States. We have lost our lead in the world educationally.
We are not providing the best educational systems for our children. Will this decline be increased with schools that condone a “partying” atmosphere at their schools? I’d have to say Yes.
I’m not saying that universities and colleges should ban partying and drinking all together but I do believe they should do their best to assure students are studying when they’re supposed to be studying, going to classes when they are supposed to be going to classes, and are behaving responsibly during their off hours.
This statement is no more than when we say that police and law enforcement officials are given the duty to make sure adults are behaving responsibly while out in all of the communities around the country.
And, it is no more than saying that companies and employers are given the duty to make sure their employees are behaving responsibly while at work.
In addition, maybe illegal drug testing should be mandatory for all students enrolled on public schools within the United States? It is already being done in businesses, and schools are preparing young adults for the working world. Maybe such testing should be required early on in life.
I wasn’t really heading to “illegal drug testing” when I started this blog-article on party schools in the United States, but it was an idea that popped into my head as an idea.
