4. Stop using individual containers of water bottled by companies.
In the CBS News article “
Green Alternatives To Bottled Water” Salt Lake City (Utah) mayor Rocky Anderson calls bottled water
"the greatest marketing scam of all time."
Instead of buying a container of bottled water for $1, use tap water instead. Most studies have found that tap water is just as good as bottled water. In fact, a
recent study found many pollutants in major brands of bottled water.
If you need a filtration system for your home’s water, you’ll be way out ahead in the long-term rather than continuing to use these little bottles of pre-packed water.
Even better, fill up a container of water at work, and its free for you. Often times, bottled water costs hundreds (sometimes thousands) of times the price of regular tap water.
Look at all the money you’ll save by using tap water instead of bottled water.
5. Carpool with co-workers living near you.
The website
eRideShare.com provides a five-step way to find people that live near you and also work near your employment site. These matches could be your future cfellow arpoolers.
