2. Avoiding high-fat and high-salt foods.
Stay away from these fatty and salty foods, which are often found in highly processed foods such as those found in fast-food joints and in cardboard boxes and frozen containers in supermarkets.
Besides improving your health, you’ll also save money by avoiding these often highly priced grocery-store foods and switching over to low- and no-processed foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads, and chicken, turkey, and fish.
A good website for finding out what foods to avoid is WomenFitness.net’s article
Identifying High Fat Foods. (It’s a good website for men, too.)
3. Recycling all you can in your local community.
Recycling products is a simple way to reduce our landfills. Newspapers and other papers, plastics, glass, aluminum cans and other metals, all can be recycled. Check with your local community to see what is recycled.
You can make some spare change by recycling aluminum cans, or donate them to your local non-profit that is involved with recycling and the greening of America.
Check out Earth911.com’s “
Find Recycling Centers and Learn How to Recycle” and the EPA’s “
Recycle City.”
