Electronic Arts have announced that the formally PS3 exclusive shooter will be gracing the digital world of a larger audience.

Aussie’s Pandemic studios will produce the sequel to 2005’ Mercenaries. Titled Mercenaries 2: World in Flames the game will ship in “holiday 2007”.  Meaning around late Spring in the Southern Hemisphere.

Merc’s 2 was originally down as a PlayStation 3 exclusive titles, but has now found a home on the Xbox 360, PC and surprisingly the PS2, albeit in a slightly different guise to the Next-Gen offerings.

“Mercenaries 2: World in Flames delivers the next evolution in explosive open world gameplay regardless of the system you play it on,” said Pandemic Studios CEO Andrew Goldman. “All four platforms are incredible gaming machines, and from the beginning we designed an experience that accentuates their individual strengths and delivers the interactive freedom and explosive action Mercenaries fans demand.”
