Xbox 360 classics bound into Australia

Opinion and Analysis

Microsoft has announced a price reduction on some of the earlier titles released for the Xbox 360 console.  Time to catch up on those you have missed.

The term ‘classic’ in video game terms has, in recent years been hijacked by the various marketing departments to shift units. Specifically, older units.

Microsoft has deemed that a number of the earlier Xbox 360 games are now “classics” and as such are worthy of a price reduction in order to widen their appeal to those that may have overlooked them.

So from March 1 this year, these games receive a recommended sticker price of AU$49.95.

Nick Segger, Xbox Group Marketing Manager, says, "With over 160 titles, Xbox 360 offers the broadest and deepest selection of games on any next generation console. The Classics range extends the experience to a wider audience for a fraction of the price."

Microsoft is going all out in a bid to compete with the imminant launch of the PlayStation 3.  The obvious way to do this is by targeting the hip pocket with announcements like this.
