Hello Wii-Phone?

Opinion and Analysis

First there was the Mobile phone, then the iPhone, now the Wii-Phone?

T3 Gadget site is reporting on the game colossus Nintendo's recent patent lodgements.

Seems that Nintendo intends to get further into the home party game market by trying to take on karaoke favourites such as Singstar on the PS2.  The patent details the installation of a microphone into the already crammed Wii-mote game controller.

The Wii-mote, so central to the Nintendo fun factor looks like it will be sporting a new feature enabling the player to croon at his/her beloved gaming device.

Although reported months ago, it would seem that plans are becoming more concrete on this story; we await complete confirmation from Nintendo.

T3 is stretching the idea that including a microphone, along with the already installed speaker will lead to a Wii Voip service, enabling Wii-kin to talk to each other and the world over the Interet.

A couple of things will need to change for this to be viable, the most obvious being the quality and, possibly the positioning of the incorporated Wii-mote speaker.
