Australia’s embattled construction sector could benefit from cloud based information systems that can be switched on and off in lockstep with individual projects – with the exception of those organisations based in remote areas like the Kimberleys.

Oz Xbox exec - The ultimate 3D experience is Kinect

Opinion and Analysis

Interview:  iTWire sat down with Frazer Scott Acting Marketing Director for Xbox in Australia and asked him to elaborate on the new Xbox 360 slim as well as the no-controller Kinect system and what this new hardware will mean for Australians.

Frazer Scott in his Marketing Director for Xbox Australia guise was happy to have a few words with iTWire about the recent E3 announcements made by Microsoft in Los Angeles these past few days.

iTWire: Tell us about Kinect, I always need to pause so as not to say Kinetic.

Frazer Scott: Well you're the first I have heard; everybody here in the office that calls it Natal has to put a dollar in a jar [laughs].  It's a very exciting thing for us, it is something not many would have seen or experienced before.  I think a lot of people saw us announce what was Natal at E3 last year and though 'wow! If you can do half of that it will be exciting.'  And know what we are saying is that, not only can we do that, but we can do more.  We are going to launch in November, we have got a great line-up of games, both first and third party, and this is just the beginning.  And it is not only just the way you interact with games on it now, but also how you can control the Xbox dashboard now and experience.  All up there is a lot of love in there for a lot of people.

iTWire: Do we have an Australian release date and price for Kinect?

FS: We do not; we don't have anything for Australia outside of 'November'. Pricing SKU's will follow in time.

iTWire: I believe Microsoft have been working hard to ensure that Kinect is an affordable addition to the Xbox 360 hardware, do you know if many hardware changes have gone into the design since we first saw it at E3 2009?

FS: To the best of my knowledge, we have only been making it more and more accessible; there have been no major changes in the machine - that I am aware of - itself.
