iTWire spoke to Curtis Creamer, Bungie Lead Producer on the upcoming Halo ODST, we discussed the upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive, had a bit of a look at the Firefight multiplayer and sat in a real Warthog (pictures within), designed by those folks from the The Lord Of The Rings movies, Weta.
Bungie Lead Producer on the upcoming Halo: Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, Curtis Creamer was looking pretty relaxed, despite the inclement Melbourne weather outside. Perhaps it was the leather seats of the Lamborghini Showroom where we had our chat, or perhaps it was the comforting effect of the full sized – drivable – Halo Warthog nearby.
“It had a really big V6 diesel to begin with, put it all together and drove it around, and it just wasn’t powerful enough, so they got the biggest super-charger they could find in the southern hemisphere,“ Creamer pauses for a hearty laugh ” had it flown to New Zealand and they strapped that thing in there, and now it has serious power”
The Warthog is indeed very cool to check out, though - I tried - it does not flip over when you press the 'Y' button.
Obviously Creamer is a fan of the Halo movie project finally coming together. The Peter Jackson project is currently mired in red-tape delays.
“We sent them [WETA] our 3D files, so they made this gigantic Gravity Hammer and Spike Grenades,” Creamer said “ but, because in Halo the grenades are different sizes, when they are on the ground their a little bit bigger so you can see them and pick them up, but when you are throwing them they’re smaller. They actually made both – these guys are complete craftsmen, it is amazing the artisans they have at Weta, they make fantastic stuff.”
