Review: de Blob - A new Wii must-own

Opinion and Analysis

Blob Party gives the requisite multiplayer experience to de Blob.  There are three multiplayer modes for up to four players to unlock.

Point Match – Paint as much of the level as you can, completive painting means that over-painting rivals colours results in boosted scores – many a graffiti artist will revel in this tagging race.

Blob on the Run – In this mode only one player can paint, whilst all the others are out to squish him/her.  Once squished, the squishee becomes the painter.

Blob Race -  Watch for the flashing colours and be the first to reach and paint each building.

Sometimes the jumping controls can be a little frustrating to use, Blob can get stuck in some sections of the map, but with a little persistence, practice and a bit of luck, the jumping is capable – and most Wii owners will be used to a little lack of control precision in their games.  de Blob is particularly forgiving in these areas.

Hydrants are also a little too much like the blue paintbots, causing some early confusion as well.

But that is about it for the niggles, all up Blue Tongue have produced a game for the all conquering Wii that should be in each of the 30 plus million Wii owning households.

Hopefully this will be the case, though without a big movie tag I somehow doubt the word will get out there – in other words the Boom Blox syndrome.

With any luck this review will sway those more willing to stick to big Hollywood franchises to try something a bit different.
