Of course PS3 and PSP is/should be about games, and there was more news on this front. An October release date for LittleBigPlanet was confirmed. And a teaser trailer for what should be a biggy in 2009, God of War III was shown, with few other details about the game.
Other presented PS3 games included MotorStorm Pacific Rift, the new Bond game Quantam of Solace, Killzone 2, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, BioShock including exclusive PS3 content, Prince of Persia and Call of Duty: World at War.
DC Universe Online will arrive on PS3 and PC and looks like it will be another in the Hero MMO style games allowing you to take either side in a DC comic book universe. Hmmm at last, a chance to slip into a Wonder Woman, errrr. Green Lantern guise.
Then there was a new MAG (Massive Action Game) from SOCOM developers Zipper Interactive. This modern warfare game will feature massive 256 player battles (with eight man squads). Squad leaders will have to earn their place, and the game will feature air strikes, vehicles and more on a large scale. PS3 owners will need to wait until 2009 for this yet unnamed title to be released.
The PSP platform will enjoy sequels to Patapon and LocoRoco along with Star Wars the Fotrce Unleashed, Madden 09, NBA 09, Super Stardust Portable, Lego Batman, a Buzz quiz title and more.
The PS2 will continue to enjoy some new releases, in stark contrast to the forlorn original Xbox.
Tretton was at pains to point out Sony’s “long term” vision for the current generation of gaming platform: "today we (Sony) have what no other company has, three successful platforms in the market at once". And they have a plan to sell 10 million PS3 consoles, 15 Million PSP’s and 9 Million PS2’s during the 2008 fiscal year.
