E3 08: Nintendo get a Grand Theft Auto

Voice chat, a more accurate controller, Animal Crossing: City Folk, a new Wii Sports and a Grand Theft Auto game and more are all in store for Nintendo fans.

The Nintendo E3 keynote has come and gone, here are the highlights.

Wii Music, by using the wii-mote to imitate orchestral instruments (around 50 will be featured), players will be able to join in the game without strictly adhering to a rhythm or beat. 

A separate part of Wii Music will include a full blown drumming simulator, utilising the Wii-mote and Nunchuck attachment as drum sticks along with the incorporation of the Balance Board peripheral as the kick drum.

According to Shigeru Miyamoto, chief games designer at Nintendo; Wii Music will be "something everyone can enjoy in the living room alongside each other".  Putting Wii Music along side Wii Sports et al

Speaking of Wii Sports, a follow-up title Wii Sports Resort, a set of summer themed Sports mini games, Jet Ski Racer, Frisbee toss and the like.  Wii Sports Resort will come bundled with the Wii MotionPlus accessory for the current Wii-mote. 

This click in device, creating a more accurate Wii-mote experience.  North American Nintendo President and CEO, Reggie Fils-Aime demonstrated the Jet Ski racer game along with some sword duelling action that must have developers of past Wii games such as Red Steel and Ninja Reflex rueing the lack of controller accuracy before MotionPlus.  Whilst those proposing a purchase of the up coming Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be happy with the increase in light-sabre response.
