The second race, the Dark Eldar are the evil hedonistic side of the original Eldar introduced in DoW. Just like their tabletop background, the Dark Eldar are the space pirates in the WH40K universe. Using quick strike tactics, they excel and the jab punch from a distance, but are fragile when caught in a drawn out engagement.
Dark Eldar special abilities are powered by the souls of those they slay in combat, requiring the player to manage three modes of resources all up.
Soulstorm contains the comprehensive campaign system introduced in 2006’s Dark Crusade expansion and a bunch of extra vehicles or abilities for the original races and all up provides a satisfying number of gaming hours as we await the completion of Dawn of War 2 from Relic.
It would have been nice to have had the Tyranid Brood represented in Dawn of War. The Tyranid and their insect based race of living weaponry remain the one major table top choice yet to make the transition to electronic form. With any luck, the Hive Queen will make her appearance in Dawn of War 2
