Review: Everybody's Golf: World Tour

Opinion and Analysis

Graphically, EG:WT makes the leap into high definition with the 15 quirky characters along with the 6 golf causes presented in colourful and detailed sumptuousness.  Each course is full of themed constructions and statues side by side with the usual bunkers, water traps and foliage.

Then there is the style; sound affects are presented in onomatopoeia style, typical Japanese style characters bound around the course with exaggerated responses to shots and cute encouragements.

The only issue I had with the graphics were the colourisations of the timing ring (advanced technique) and its clashing with the bunker sand.  When you most need to nail those bunker shots, it is difficult to see the ring on screen.

Otherwise the immersion is highlighted further with wind effects, the sound and sight of a small crowd watching your endeavours and providing help.  Small creatures bound across the course and all can be viewed from many camera angles.

Being the style of game it is, EG:WT is all about the unlockable content.  Clubs, balls, player outfits , special shots, caddies and more can be unlocked during play a number of ways.  Firstly using a specific character time after time builds 'loyalty' unlocking special abilities for that Avatar.  This is RPG lite and works quite well.honkaku_4.jpg

Then there is the obvious 'winning tournaments' awards of new Clubs, Caddies and Balls.  The new Clubs in particular are sort after as each have their own characteristics (spin, distance, control and so on) that can add to the players abilities.
