So category 3 people, here is your information, where do console sales fit into this, they are important for one reason only.  Future choice, if any console fails to achieve a certain level of sales, support from not only the manufacturer, but also importantly, third party developers will drop off.

But, and here is the kicker, as Alex reported, all consoles this generation have an install base worthy of exploitation by any developer.  Plus each manufacture has already ventured so deep into this game that dropping support any time in the near future would be a ludicrous decision.

So be confident of your buying decision, any of the three consoles will provide hours of enjoyment if your choice follows your lifestyle parameters.  Don't feel you need to defend your choice, whichever console you chose you are right.

This is a golden age of gaming, and to be frank, each of the big three contenders are making a bucket load of money right now, don't expect anybody to be dropping the ball at this time in gaming history.  Enjoy.
