Review: Devil May Cry 4 – Big swords, big style, big attitude

Opinion and Analysis

The cut scenes are well done, though sometimes a cut scene battle will look extremely cool, and as a player I was itching to 'play out' the cut scene sequence rather than passively watch it like a movie.

At 60 frames per second, on next-gen hardware, Devil May Cry 4 has impressive visuals though the game engine never seems to be pushed to any great extremes, not often are you looking too far into the distance, all the action takes place on a limited stage for the most part.

It is also a shame there is a bit of back tracking over already completed areas throughout the campaign.

Sound is adequate while not reaching any great heights, especially with the protagonists quips which can at times get somewhat repetitive.  Gun battles are an audio highlight.devilmc2.jpg

Generally Devil May Cry 4 is a satisfying romp that defies logic – but like Nero and Dante, who cares about that?
