S.T.A.L.K.E.R : Shadow of Chernobyl – PC - It was a long wait for this atmospheric shooter, and though the list of bugs was long and the original vision not fully realised, this eerie PC based shooter adventure was worth the wait. From the review:” STALKER is a rare game that captures the imagination from minute one. The world of STALKER feels alive, with events happening throughout the Zone that occur without direct intervention from the player.”

SKATE – Xbox 360, PS3 - A surprise for me, my expectations were low, considering I was also reviewing the latest Tony Hawk offering, and thought young Anthony would have the experience to knock the new kid off, but the control mechanism and world of SKATE won me over.

AFL Premiership 2007 – PS2 – International readers could be bewildered by our local game of football, a 360 action packed tough encounter with high scoring and rabid fans. It is also a tough sport to bring to the gaming world. The local folks at IR Gurus were up to the challenge. From the review:” This passionate supporter is who IR Gurus are aiming for. Only a true aficionado of this sport will appreciate such aspects as key player matchups, the importance of the ruck tap to space, the bewildering difference between a ‘push in the back’ and ‘holding the ball’ free kicks. Not to mention hearing Dennis Cometti saying ‘centimetre perfect’”

Gears of War – Xbox 360 – Yep it is relatively low in the top ten, but still, as many Xboxer’s know a worthy example of why late 2006 & 2007 has been a golden era in gaming history:” If you have a Wii, you will get Zelda: Twilight Princess, if you have a Xbox 360, and you are…. Ahem! … older than 15, then you will have to get Gears of War.”

Medieval Total War II – PC – The Total War franchise remains the must-have series of games for RTS and historical gaming fans the world over, MTW II will remain on the hard drive for a long time.
