Latest US sales confirm Nintendo's Wii on top

Market research firm NPD has released the March sales figures and Nintendo still reigns supreme.
Putting 259,000 Wii game consoles into North American homes during March stamps Nintendo king of the current generation consoles sales.  Given that Nintendo still struggles to get stock on shelves in the face of demand, this is a great result for the Japanese gaming giant.

The Microsoft Xbox 360 moved 199,000 units and Sony offloaded 130,000 PlayStation 3 entertainment hubs.
It is beginning to become irrelevant to compare the three game consoles, because in a lot of ways such as features and price points they are focussed on differing demographics.

Meanwhile in the easier to compare Hand-held department, NPD show that Nintendo shipped 508,000 DS units whilst Sony’s PlayStation Portable managed 180,000 units sold during March
