EA delivers Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars on PC

On its way to store shelves, the return of the venerable C&C franchise with Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars.

Electronic Arts announced today the third in the venerable RTS franchise Command & Conquer has shipped to stores. 

Well it is kind of the third in the series, beginning 11 years ago, Westwood's C&C, although it was not the first, it is seen as the granddaddy of all RTS games, spawning not only innumerable clones from other companies, but also the popular Red Alert, Dune and Generals  RTS variants.

Now arrives Tiberium Wars featuring today’s game-play with the characters and factions that are familiar to C&C fans all over.

“Command & Conquer is back!” said Mike Verdu, VP and Executive Producer at EALA. “We’ve taken the mix of explosive action, deep strategy, and rich storytelling that sparked a genre to the next level. Even better, the series is returning to its roots in the Tiberium universe. Players can take command of the futuristic armies of the Global Defense Initiative, fight for Kane and the Brotherhood of Nod, or control the alien hordes of our new third faction, the Scrin. I can’t wait for people to get their hands on this game.”

C&C has always included full motion video in its format, and Tiberium Wars is no different, with a recognizable band of Hollywood actors rising to the challenge. The cast includes Tricia Helfer, Josh Holloway, Michael Ironside, Jennifer Morrison, Billy Dee Williams, and Grace Park.

“When I realized that I wasn’t going to be a computer-generated character, but playing a live action role in the C&C 3 game, I was really looking forward to see what was in store,” said Tricia Helfer, famous for her role in the Scifi television series “Battlestar Galactica. “I can honestly say that it was one of the most fun projects I’ve worked on.”

The “Kane Edition” of Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars will be the collectible edition of this release, including a bunch of exclusive content such as a behind-the-scenes documentary DVD.

C&C 3 Tiberium Wars will also come to the Xbox 360 in the near future.
