Opinion and Analysis
The eighties arcade hit looms again for both PS3 as well as Blu-ray disc players.
Okay so it really was not that great a game, simply remember the moves and hit the joystick at the correct moment to direct Dirk through the ever changing castle lair of the Dragon. Still it caused quite a stir in the dark arcades of the time, being the first glimpse of what optical discs could do.
Digital Leisure have announced a digitally restored (gosh I thought it already was digital) and enhanced with 5.1 surround sound (oh!) version of the game as a Blu-ray disc, play the game with your Blu-ray player, or your new PlayStation 3 (in other words, a Blu-ray player)
This latest version of
Dragons Lair includes extra special 1080p content, interviews with original designer and Disney animator Don Bluth as well as a full-length “visual commentary”
April 9th is the target date for release.
More information including a rundown on BD-J (Blu-ray Disk Java) used in making the game, is available on the official website
here.
