Guitar hero II set to rock the Xbox 360

Opinion and Analysis

Activision announces the arrival of their popular guitar licks onto the next-gen console.

Guitar Hero II is coming to Next-gen, with and expanded list of 70 songs for budding Xrockers to work their fingers to.  With 10 exclusive tracks for the Xbox 360, the popular franchise will come to the Microsoft gaming platform April 3 this year.

Guitar Hero II asks players to live the dream of performing on stage as part of a frenetic rock band, with a unique guitar controller being abused to match the onscreen notes accompanying a blistering sound track.

Of course with Guitar Hero, it is not simply a matter of hitting the right notes at the right time.  Instead it is a matter of hitting the right chords with a cool rock stance whilst wearing a contorted guitar “face”.  Whether you are a shoe-gazer, head banger or rocker, there is vicarious fun to be had.

"With all the new content and features we’re adding for our initial launch onto next-gen systems, Guitar Hero II on the Xbox 360 is definitely going to rock harder than ever,” said Dusty Welch, head of publishing at RedOctane.  “Our online initiative is going to provide an incredible opportunity for our fans to extend the gameplay experience, and we have ambitious ideas to continue to fully support these efforts.”

The Xbox 360 version will feature HD remodelled characters, unlockable guitars, and different gameplay modes along with the exciting addition of online play against other fellow wannabe stars.  There will be leaderboard score as well as downloadable Xbox Live Marketplace content, including new tracks – woohoo !
