Over five years in development, and beginning to be the butt of as many ‘delay’ jokes as perennial vapourware favourite Duke Nukem Forever.  Now THQ announce PC based First Person Shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R is ready to be released.

Speaking to a crowd of journalists at the THQ “Gamers’ Day event” in San Francisco, Kelly Flock; executive vice president announced the imminent arrival of the game.

Set in the real world location around the site of the 1986 nuclear power plant disaster, Chernobyl in the then Soviet Union, S.T.A.L.K.E.R will task players with survival in the hostile, and sometimes alien environment.

Flock announced that the code has gone gold and may well be available on shelves for PC gamers come March 20.  In North America it will be rated M and go on sale for US$39.99.
