Should you buy a PAL PS3?

Opinion and Analysis

Xbox 360 boasts an impressive line-up of games already, including the majority of original Xbox titles.  It will hook up with your PC and broadband internet connection with ease and if you want Hi-Def disc capabilities, whack on a HD-DVD drive.   The cheaper price point and modular design will give the Microsoft machine a significant advantage in the long sales slog ahead.

Then there is the Nintendo Wii.  As developers struggle to shift internal projects to this surprise hit of the console war, the Wii is on the cusp of greatness or disaster.  Commentators are coming out with questions surrounding the dearth of up coming titles for the platform.  And it is true that there are many cross platform blockbusters announced recently that leave the Wii off the list.  Star Wars: The Force Unleashed springs to mind.

Already there is an impressive base of Wii owners, and even on a Wii Sports experience at a friends house, given the comparative cost of the device, the Wii or a PS2 makes a sensible choice for casual social gamers now.  As developing teams come on board, more hard-core titles will appear for the console once considered more “kiddie” orientated.

Will you buy a PAL PS3? Yes.  Should you buy a PAL PS3? Carefully evaluate which niche you lie in.  Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo will all tell you that their console is right for you.  But with careful analysis of your Financial and Social position as well as your gaming and nex-gen technical needs, you will be armed with the information needed to make the correct choice.

Or just get all three, what the heck, who needs to eat for a month or two?
