Queensland firm comes up with multisite CMS

Opinion and Analysis

A Queensland company, ZacWare, has released an application that can transform the popular open source content management system Joomla! into a multisite CMS.

Known as Jentla, it can be used to manage more than 10,000 sites from within Joomla!. Built atop Joomla!, it integrates with the administrative interface and permits the administration of multiple sites.

Jentla is made up of GPL licensed Joomla! components and a proprietary management layer outside Joomla! which handles interactions between the Jentla Manager and the individual Joomla! sites.

Integrating an additional module into a number of sites can be done from a single interface using Jentla. If uniform configuration is needed, then that can be done as well as multiple configuration.

ZacWare has partnered with GoGrid, the cloud computing division of ServePath, to provide product and service offers for companies that need to host, manage and maintain anything from two to more than 10,000 individual websites from a central management system.

"Jentla's rapid deployment capability, dynamically scalable infrastructure, automated tools and centralised management provide the website development community a great new solution at the perfect time," ZacWare founder Damian Hickey, said in a media release.

Jentla is available as a software-as-a-service offering so that existing sites can be imported under its management and stay with their current hosts.

An in-house version is also available for bigger companies that wish to do their own hosting.
