Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
An announcement posted to a Debian developers' mailing list by spokesman Alexander Reichle-Schmehl said though the release team had tried everything possible. it was difficult to estimate how fast such bugs would be fixed.
He called on all those involved in Debian - users and maintainers - to help in getting the release completed during the final quarter of 2008. The last version, etch or 4.0, was released on April 8, 2007.
Reichle-Schmehl said users could help by upgrading to the set of packages which would become Lenny and seeing how things worked.
As there was no detailed documentation for doing this, he said the best way was to first create backups and then upgrade.
"If something goes wrong/something unexpected happens, please report it. If you already know a specific package, report a bug against that package," he wrote.
Reichle-Schmehl said users could also help by describing bugs which they were aware of, and which had not been yet documented.
Maintainers, he said, could fix release-critical bugs that were still open and ensure that the fix propagated to the package which would be included in Lenny.
Update, Oct 8: Debian Project leader Steve McIntyre said they were waiting on three things: "a release candidate build of the installer (a couple of weeks late now, but I'm told it's due very shortly); the usual stack of release-critical bugs that we want to fix before the release; and final work on the release notes, including guidelines on how best to upgrade from previous releases and known issues with workarounds."
Said McIntyre: "As you might guess, there's been a lot of discussion about these on our mailing lists and IRC channels over the last few weeks. We're working through the remaining RC bugs as fast as we can, and there's scope for dropping some packages from Lenny before the release if we need to.
"As for exact timing, I can't promise anything. I'd love to see Lenny out before the end of the month, but we'll have to see..."
